Make Noise // Week 3

It seems as if once Alive is over on Wednesday nights are over, the busy part of my week takes off and it ends up being Saturday (while Brooklynn tries her best to get her little fingers on the keyboard) before the re-cap gets up. Apologies accepted ;) Here's what happened Wednesday...

A lot of our lives revolve around "thinking" about doing something, "talking" about doing something, or even "praying" about doing something...all resulting in "not doing ___" It's about time we start "DOING" something.
  • If we don't share Jesus, people die without Him and friends don't let friends die without Jesus.
  • We memorize "go and make disciples" but don't do it. We, actually, memorize a lot of scripture but never DO what it says.
  • One act of obedience is better than 100 sermons.
  • Let's not be the student ministry that TALKS/THINKS about reaching people but one that actually DOES it!
14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,[a] each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. 19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ 22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ 23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ 24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ 26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Matthew 25:14-26

  •  The question isn't, "What have I been given?" but, "What will I do with what I have been given?" What will you do with the life you've been given?
  • Your life is God's gift to you. What you do with it will be your gift back to Him.
  • You multiply your life when you INVEST in others.
  • It's easier to do something for God when you realize what He's done for you.
  • God hasn't called you to be SUCCESSFUL. He's called you to be FAITHFUL.
  • God won't say, "well thought of good and faithful servant" or "well talked about good and faithful servant" but "well DONE good and faithful servant."
  • Servants don't care who gets the credit!
  • What's God asking you to stop thinking about and start doing??
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."    James 1:22

Make Noise // week 2

Wednesday night was incredibly good. I know I tend to start every recap post like that but it just was. And yes, the name of the blog has changed and is still "under construction" (thanks for noticing)...I'll blog about that soon ;)

Let's jump into Wednesday night.

If you have a relationship with Jesus, you should look different from the world. You weren't born to blend in but to stand out! Do you look different from those that do not know Jesus?

  • Look DIFFERENT to make a DIFFERENCE!
A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2:1-5
  •  With a packed room, (and Jesus could have done anything He wanted to do),  He read the Word because He knew that's what they needed
  • Disciples do more than just listen to Jesus, they do what He says by bringing people to Him. Who are you bringing on the mat to see Jesus?
  • Changed people change people...one person at a time! Who do you know that's hurting? JESUS can HEAL them!
  • We will start caring about our friends when we start introducing them to Jesus!
  • The JOY of seeing people experience Jesus is far greater than the pain/awkwardness/rejection/price it might cause you.
  • Be someone who lets NOTHING stop you from bringing people to Jesus!
  • What's in the way of your relationship with Jesus? Are you helping others or hindering others who need Jesus?
  • These guys that were bringing the paralyzed man to Jesus could have given up, stopped along the way, or argued about which direction to take to get to Jesus. But because they all had one clear direction, their faith led to the healing of their friend. Have a faith that heals your friends! Be unashamed! Jesus knew that this man needed a spiritual healing that was far more important than his physical healing.

Make Noise

Yes, the blog looks different. I've actually had it disabled for a few days working on a facelift for it. Normally I wouldn't post something until it was 100% ready to be seen, however, with an active little one it is taking a bit longer than usual and I really wanted to get this post up. So, excuse the construction, and we'll dive in.

We kicked off the "Spring" semester (weather would tend to prove otherwise) with our Make Noise series. And if you follow me on twitter, you'll have seen that I thought it was one of the best (if not, best) messages I've ever heard my husband preach. So, enough of the small talk...here's a recap if you missed it (and I pray you didn't!!!)
  • We all make noise about something! Your mouths will make noise based upon what your heart is full of! When people look at your social media, what do they see you making noise about? That's probably 9 times out of 10 what your heart is full of.
  • When our hearts are full of JESUS, we will make noise about Him!
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Luke 6:45
  •  Jesus won't be on your lips if He's not in your heart! If you've been saved, you have a name to proclaim! We don't have a secret to keep but a testimony to give.
The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand.
The next day the rulers, the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas, John, Alexander and others of the high priest’s family. They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 Jesus is
    “‘the stone you builders rejected,
        which has become the cornerstone.’[a]
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. 14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. 15 So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together. 16 “What are we going to do with these men?”they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it. 17 But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.”
18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! 20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
21 After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened. 22 For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old. Acts 4:1-23
  • When you follow Jesus, don't be surprised when you are treated like He was.
  • The same God then is the same God now!
  • You can't find rescue in substances, things, or people. God is our only rescuer!
  • Live in such a way that people know you've spent time with Jesus.
  • When we don't make noise, that means we are being silent and our SILENCE IS KILLING PEOPLE!
  • We will share the name of Jesus when we care more about where people spend ETERNITY than we do about what people think about us!
  • Jesus can't be SPREAD when He goes UNSAID!
  • The enemy LOVES it when we are quiet. God LOVES it when we're LOUD! Who are you trying to PLEASE?
  • Jesus didn't go halfway for you, don't go halfway for Him. Make some noise!

11 Months!

Diaper size: 4
Clothing size: 12M - 18M
Weight: 20ish
Eye Color: Blue
Favorite Toy: Her toy piano and Stand & Play that we got her for Christmas!
Sleeping Habits: With the holidays her sleep habits were a little whack...as if they weren't already. She was (and now that the holidays are over is again) taking two naps a day. She will either take two shorter naps or one long nap. Her nighttime sleep is still marvelous. She sleeps from 8PM - 9AM
Words: Mama, Baba
Best Moments: She is a lot happier than in months past. I've said on here before that she's never been an exceptionally happy baby. This month, she was happy and went to bed much better than in the past! Happy mama over here!
Hard Moments: She's suffered from a cold nearly all month long. Never one bad enough to send me her over the edge though. She did get sick on New Years Day which was beyond pitiful but I did love the cuddles that she gave...because she never does!
Fun info: I looked at Brooklynn today and thought, "she's no longer a little baby...she's a little girl." She can stand on her own and I'm almost 100% certain she would walk on her own if her little fears didn't get the best of her. She gets scared and sits down...gracefully :) She's drinking out of straws, feeding herself big girl food and LOVES the sweets (I repeat - she is her dad's child). We celebrated her first Christmas which was loads of fun. She was a better "un-wrapper" than I thought she'd be. It didn't take her long to figure out there was something for her underneath all that paper. She's also started mocking people. One of her uncles will do something and she'll do it right back. This is probably a bad thing so ya'll be aware of what you do in front of my child ;)

These posts are coming to an end! Little stinker will be 1 next month!! It seemed like I was just doing those chalkboard updates and now I'm almost done with her monthly updates! Whew...time's soarin'...

Sick Baby and "Resolutions"

We have started off 2015 with bang here in the Hux household. Brooklynn woke up New Years Day with something. Whatever it was, it only lasted 24 hours but that was about 22 hours too long. I guess the good thing about having a super hyper-active baby is you know when she's sick. She woke up, didn't drink much of her bottle (clue #1), sat up and didn't move (clue #2), and wanted to be held and cuddle (clue #3). Yep, that was it, someone call 9-1-1 cause Brooklynn-girl was not herself. We watched her for a bit, gave her some Tylenol, a bubble bath, and put her back down for a nap about 45 minutes after she woke up (clue #4 because she actually went back down with no fuss). We woke her up ( I know, a no-no in parenting 101) but we wanted her to nap again and not sleep the whole day away. She was whiny and so she went back down shortly after lunch. She seemed to get better as the day wore on but she still had a small fever and was clingy. She woke up yesterday with about 95% of her spunk back and today she's as good as new. Having a sick baby is rough on the soul...and the back if they only wanna be held.

Sick and still super sweet :)
Have any of you made your New Years "Resolutions"? I use quotations because I think the majority of us just consider it a joke nowadays. I made some...sorta. I'm really gonna try and lose the rest of this weight that I gained prior to baby...thank you control, I hate you. We did our "healthy grocery shopping" this morning. I think more-so than losing weight I just need my energy back. I also have vowed to myself to be more joyful...in everything...this year. I'm determined to not let things stress me out as much as I did last year. You can usher in prayers for me if you'd like ;)

In other fun news, Brooklynn's first birthday plans are in the making <insert deer-in-the-headlights-look>.

Prayers for good health and joy in your 2015 :)
